Cookies Policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
Effective from the date above
1. Introduction
This Cookies Policy explains how BookingWhizz Ltd ("BookingWhizz," "we," "our," or "us") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website at bookingwhizz.com and related sub-domains.
We use cookies in accordance with the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). Where cookies collect personal data, our Privacy Policy explains how we process and protect that data.
2. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide usage information to website operators.
Cookies can be "first-party" (set by the website you are visiting) or "third-party" (set by a different domain). They can also be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them).
3. Similar Technologies
In addition to cookies, we may use other tracking technologies including:
- Pixels / web beacons: tiny transparent images embedded in emails or web pages that track whether content has been viewed
- Local storage: data stored in your browser that persists across sessions, used for preferences and functionality
- Session storage: temporary data stored in your browser that is cleared when you close the tab or browser
References to "cookies" in this policy include these similar technologies unless stated otherwise.
4. Cookies We Use
4.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to function. They enable core features such as page navigation, secure access, and language preferences. These cookies do not require your consent under PECR and cannot be disabled.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| NEXT_LOCALE | BookingWhizz | Stores your selected language preference | 1 year |
| __next_* | BookingWhizz | Framework session and routing management | Session |
Your consent choice is not stored in a cookie. It is kept in your browser's local storage under the key bw_optional_consent_privacy-2026-10-14, and is read only by this website.
4.2 Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use our website. They use a random ID, not your name or email address. They are only set with your consent.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors by assigning a randomly generated ID | 2 years |
| _ga_<container ID> | Google Analytics | Maintains session state for GA4 measurement | 2 years |
4.3 Visitor Tracking Cookies
We use the HubSpot tracking script to record which pages a visitor views, to help us understand interest in our services. It loads only after you choose Allow optional tools. Before that, your browser makes no request to HubSpot and none of these cookies exist. We do not use advertising cookies.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| __hstc | HubSpot | Tracks visits to the website, so we can see which pages lead to an enquiry | 6 months |
| hubspotutk | HubSpot | Recognises a returning visitor | 6 months |
| __hssc | HubSpot | Keeps track of the current visit | 30 minutes |
| __hssrc | HubSpot | Notes whether the browser was restarted during a visit | Session |
Durations are HubSpot's published defaults.
4.4 Browser Storage
Some features keep small pieces of data in your browser's local or session storage rather than in a cookie. This data is not used to track you across websites. Apart from bw_first_touch, which reaches us only with an enquiry you choose to send, it stays in your browser.
whizzbot-chat(local storage): keeps your conversation with our website chat so it is still there if you reload the page.bw_booster_v1(local storage) andbw_booster_shown(session storage): remember which of our website suggestions you have already seen, so we do not repeat them.bw_first_touch(session storage): notes the page and source you arrived from, so an enquiry you send us shows where it came from.
4.5 Booking Calendar (Calendly)
Our booking calendar is provided by Calendly, a third party. It loads only after you choose Allow optional tools. Before that, our pages show a Book a demo button that opens the calendar on Calendly's own website in a new tab, and your browser makes no request to Calendly from our pages. Once loaded, the calendar sets its own cookies on its booking widget; see Calendly's privacy notice for what they are. If you open the calendar on Calendly's website, Calendly's own notice applies there.
5. Your Consent
When you first visit our website, a privacy banner offers two choices: Allow optional tools or Essential only. Allowing optional tools lets our feedback tool, Google Analytics, the HubSpot tracking script and the Calendly booking calendar load. Choosing Essential only means none of them load.
Strictly necessary cookies do not need consent and are set automatically, because the website cannot work without them.
The cookies in sections 4.2, 4.3 and 4.5 are set only after you have allowed optional tools. Your choice is kept in your browser's local storage (see section 4.1). You can withdraw consent at any time. This does not affect anything we did with your consent before you withdrew it.
6. Managing & Deleting Cookies
You can manage cookies through several methods:
Privacy Settings
Choose Privacy settings in the website footer to see the banner again. Choosing Essential only reloads the page without the optional tools and removes the Google Analytics and HubSpot cookies from our domain. Choosing Allow optional tools turns them on.
Browser Settings
Most web browsers allow you to view, block, and delete cookies through their settings. Instructions for common browsers:
Please note that blocking or deleting cookies may impact your experience on our website. Some features may not work as intended if essential cookies are blocked.
Third-Party Opt-Out
You can also opt out of specific third-party tracking directly:
- Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
- Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) Opt-out
- Your Online Choices (EU/UK)
7. Cookies on Hotel Booking Websites
BookingWhizz provides booking engine technology to hotels. When you visit a hotel website powered by BookingWhizz, the hotel is the data controller and is responsible for its own cookie policy. Cookies set on those hotel websites are governed by the hotel's privacy and cookies policies, not this one.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for regulatory, operational, or legal reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
